Downsizing, Adorable Style

So it’s time to further downsize on the amount of fur in my apartment. It’s going to be complicated enough just getting one rabbit down to the states, never mind a second one who doesn’t like me very much anyways. I know a friend of a friend who moved her dogs across the border, and apparently there is a specific route to take involving kenneling and tests to make sure nobody is attempting germ warfare. So that part I’m not worried about. It was  more the cost, the anxiety over the well being of not one but two bunnies, wondering if they’d get along after being apart and relatively traumatized for two weeks. Turns out that within a few days of being seperated, the bunnies are quite comfy in their single lives. Frankly, I think Finnegan was tired of being molested by Sunshine. I’m all for equality, but she was one pushy girlfriend.

And so a new home has been found for Sunshine, and I’m sure she will do fine. After a few years with my animals being the centre of my life, I am back down to my original and unabashed favourite, Finnegan Cabbage Esquire. I do still miss Hannibal and Brutus quite a bit, the babies who now live on a farm north of the city, but I couldn’t ask Josh to take in me *and* my farm. Obviously I’ve got a new centre to my life, so as much as I love rabbits, I’m clearly going to make the sane choice here. So I’m content with just Finnegan.

One benefit of his fab new bachelor life is a new bach pad. It’s smaller than the monstrous hard to clean cage he and the she-bunny have been inhabiting. That one is going with her to the new owner. This one is brand spanking new and full of fun chewable accessories. Within a few minutes he was stretched out comfortably, but of course he took the time to get used to his new house and rearrange everything in his new corner in the living room.

I’m glad I get to keep  him! Don’t worry, as soon as I’m settled I’ll have a house full of animals again I promise to never buy another rabbit again hon, honest…

😉

That, Finnegan Cabbage Esquire, is quite the handsome little fellow. 😀 Fair warning… beware of rabbit eating rednecks. 😉

I’ve always wanted an animal, just so I could name it Finnegan – the curse of being a Canadian kid, I guess. Hey, did you ever wonder why Casey’s mouth couldn’t move, but he could talk, and Finnegan’s mouth COULD move, but he couldn’t talk? WTF?

@ PeterParkour: I know, I know! I’ve already been hit with a thousand and one questions about why I don’t just eat him or something, but Josh has promised to help me take care of him (by which I mean not letting anything eat it) and even his brother thinks he’s a cute bunny worthy of cuddling.

@ JavaJunkee: Noooo! Downsizing! Although I’ve always been fascinated with birds, I’d think they’d keep me up at night. I can deal with the background city noise of sirens all night, but things in the apartment have to be quiet. That’s why Finnegan has a water bowl, not a click-click bottle – it drove me nuts all night!

@ JavaQueen: He is rather bunnilicious, thanks!

@ MysticEm: Dwarfs are awesome bunnies, but do they ever chew! At some point I would love to have a really gigantic lazy bunny. I used to have cats too, but they were smelly and mean and my rabbits were always my favourite 😉 I like dogs too, sometimes, the bigger the better. I’d get two rotties and name them Bowser and Bruiser if I had the room/$ 😛

@ Ginny: These are the mysterious ways of the Tickle Trunk world, my friend. Question not, lest ye be…uh…hmmm. It seriously just turned 9am and I’m at work – my brain is too fried to think up a legitimate curse worthy of guarding that secret. You know what I mean. Kind of like why Donald Duck wears no pants or why Goofy can talk and Pluto can’t. Sometimes it’s better not to ask. 😉

Hahaha, that is the best name ever for a pet, and he sure seems to love his new digs…gosh those bunny rabbit eyes 🙂 …I am melting, so sure, sure, get a bunch more don’t worry…hahaha…(this is why I can never go near a basket of kittens, ’cause they will all be adopted by me instantaneously..)

Adorable bunny. And trust me — not every redneck in NC eats rabbits. I know cause I live here! It’s a great state. We have very mild weather, the ocean, the mountains & really friendly southern people who will make you feel welcome! You’ll love it! And Finnegin will too!

From a dude who once had 6 cats in his 2 bedroom apartment, I hear ya! Super cute wabbits, and Romi, you’d go nuts for my 3 kitties, with eclectic names: Cucho, Billy and Leia. 🙂

That last line kills me! Kills me. That’s what I said a few years ago and yet, no pets – just more babies! Hahah. 😛

@ Romi: I *adore* naming things, and unique is the best way for me! Another bunny with floppy black ears was Darth Vader, the two cats were Peachy and Keen, and the four mice were Ziggy, Stardust, Spider and Mars.

@ Luvmoons: I’m already loving NC, my week or so there was some great times indeed. I’m really looking forward to the weather and all the fab people in Josh’s circle. And he’s promised to keep Finnegan safe from any would be diners 😉

@ Duffboy: Wow, even I wouldn’t be able to handle that many cats at one time, kudos to you.

@ May: Yeah, I’m pretty sure Josh is hoping for a pet break after Finnegan, but now that I’m down to just one I’m hoping he’ll see how easy it is to take care of bunnies. Of course, we could start collecting babies as well at some point 😛

If Finnegan is ever in danger of being eaten by rednecks you can send him down under to me

@ Nursemyra: Oh don’t worry, I’ll fend them off! Even Josh’s brother who was all ‘A rabbit, seriously?’ has seen him on the videophone and has decided that he is more deserving of hugs than dinner plates 😉
