Oh God, I just spent $300 on yarn and other crafty things. Why? Because I just remembered that my grandmother taught me how to mod podge and surely there are more fun things to make than plastic swans covered with ugly fabric. Decorative bowls anyone? Yes please! Also, the fuzzy green waffle pattern scarf seen in the last post will now be available in a deep orange (think ING direct without the accent) and a smokey grey. I am high on creativity! And cookies.
In other news, while I am still going to learn HTML, I have decided to get my nerdy friend May to build my website for me. I figured, since the applications to build a website cost a few hundred anyways, and this is what May does for a living, why don’t I just go pro? So she’s all on board, and I’m hoping that raspberrykoala.com will be up and running within a couple of weeks, but that all depends on a number of variables of course.
Wait, what, raspberrykoala? What the dealio?
Okay, so about two years ago I stumbled across a picture on the intermanets of a koala sticking out its tongue in raspberry fashion. And the name Raspberry Koala came into my head, and I immediately thought it would be a fab name for a line of handbags or something. Lo and behold! Here I am crafting things, and so Raspberry Koala will be my line. Go me!
Until the website is up, since I’m churning stuff out fairly quickly at this point, I might put a sale page on this here site so y’all can take a look at what I’ve made and let me know if you’re interested in anything.

I would buy something! I want you and Josh to be able to be together happily! I always buy scarves and never use them, because North Carolina really just doesn’t get that cold. But I would just to “support the cause”.

@ Queenie: I think I’m going to have to take a look at various postage prices and then just come up with a fair medium so instead of it being all up in the air, it’ll be ‘plus *whatever* shipping and handling’ for each item. I might have to play it by ear for the first couple of orders, but by the time the site is up I definitely want to have that cleared up!
@ JavaQueen: Good to meet you too! And thanks, I am in hyper drive right now, I want to get in gear ASAP! And yeah, I can only knit scarves too for the time being, but hopefully I’ll progress quickly. Stay tuned, I’m sure I’ll come up with something rad 😉
@ Stephanie: No way you live in NC too! That’s where Josh is if you haven’t seen that little factoid anywhere else on here. I think scarves are awesome, even though you don’t need them in NC, I’m sure for the “winter” months that Josh keeps trying to convince me of they could at least be fun accessories. And I love that you would be all over the scarves just to support my cause, that means the world to a little entrepreneur like me 🙂 Thanks!

@ Birdpress: It is a lot of yarn! So much yarn! I can usually throw together a scarf in about a week and a bit. As long as I can sneak in two weekends of couch-sitting and don’t forget to bring the *other* needle that the yarn isn’t currently attached to when I get on the subway (like I forgot this morning and thus wasted two 45 minute commutes!) then I can usually swing it in 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. It also depends on the pattern and how teeny the yarn is.

I actually have known Josh for about 8 years now! We just haven’t exactly stayed the closest of friends over there years….no hatred or disdain (that I know of anyway) for eachother…just things have changed over the years! Still love him to death though, he’ll always feel like a brother to me I think 🙂
So, yes to the scarves! I’m sure I can buy some skinny jeans and a hippy trapeze shirt and a little artsy cap and layer my scarf up around my neck lookin’ all trendy-like and go traipsing through art district of Raleigh…dude, no shame in my game! 🙂

I love the name Raspberry Koala. I can’t wait to see the web site when it is finished. My daughter knits. She started out with scarves and worked her way up to sweaters and bags. She worked with someone who taught her a lot. I took knitting lessons when I was young but I don’t think I could remember how. I do remember how to crochet. When I was young I used to crochet vests that I could make in on evening and sell them. I like crocheting because it is so fast. I used to crochet shawls too.
You’ve got a lot of energy, girl. But I guess you have a goal to and that helps.
